What is it?
Botox® Cosmetic, Dysport®, and Xeomin® are brands of neuromodulators. They are injected into the skin to temporarily prevent facial wrinkles by relaxing the face muscles. The result is a smoother, more youthful appearance. No downtime is required.
How does it work?
The injections are placed into the muscles that cause the expressions that result in wrinkles. Neuromodulators block the nerves of the injected muscles and prevent the muscle from releasing a signal to allow for movement. The muscles remain relaxed, resulting in less visible lines and wrinkles made from expressions.
What should I expect?
Results are seen with Dysport® in 2-3 days while Botox® Cosmetic, and Xeomin® may take up to 7 days to notice results, with full effects seen 2 weeks after treatment. Treatment typically lasts 3 months.
